The Little Mermaid sculpture, based on a story by Hans Christian Andersen, is the icon of the city and another of the places to visit in Copenhagen. Created by sculptor Eriksen in the early 1900s on behalf of the Jacobsen, the family that owns the Carlsber brewery, this 1-meter-tall bronze sculpture was donated to the city and placed on a rock near the harbor.
Despite suffering various acts of vandalism such as the amputation of an arm or the throwing of paint on it, The Little Mermaid continues to be the most visited monument in Denmark, making it an essential appointment in the city.
We recommend visiting it first time if you want to take a photo without people or in the moonlight to have a beautiful souvenir image.
After visiting The Little Mermaid, don't miss the Kastellet Fortress, one of the best preserved in Europe, the Gefion Fountain and the beautiful Church of St. Alban, all located very close.
The truth that one of the best options is to visit is 8Rental in Copenhagen or go on foot. The city offers no complications whatsoever, or great unevenness.
Also, most of the tourist attractions, or places of interest, are in the center-city center so you can walk perfectly to see everything during the weekend.
